Managing-Level Waterfront Structural Engineer | 7/8/2024

With a backlog of design projects and a growing sector nationally, Anchor QEA is seeking a managing-level waterfront structural engineer with 10 to 15 years of experience with a strong background leading the technical design and construction of waterfront development projects. The candidate will design piers, wharves, floating docks, boat launch ramps, seawalls, breakwaters, and other related civil/structural features for marinas, ports, and harbors. The candidate should have experience in project management related to these skills and be comfortable managing and mentoring design engineers and CAD while also providing QA/QC to others.
This position will support offices throughout the United States on projects throughout North America and will require occasional travel for meetings and site visits.
Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of a Senior Managing Engineer, serves as the managing engineer leading design on waterfront infrastructure projects and associated upland components
Leads waterfront structural engineering planning and design including, but not limited to, concept designs, alternative studies, general arrangement plans, basis of design requirements, construction drawings, technical reports and specifications, civil/structural calculations, and construction cost estimates
Provides technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers
Coordinates with geotechnical, coastal, and dredging engineers, planners, and biologists
Manages team and coordinates with client’s project manager and/or technical staff
Analyzes complex problems and develops value-engineered solutions
Leads the preparation and coordination of project deliverables including construction documents
Ensures that work products are prepared in accordance with Anchor QEA’s quality management program
Ability to travel for field site visits and project meetings in various US locations
Perform existing condition assessments of facilities and infrastructure and gather pre-design information
Participate in construction support activities including review of contractor requests for information and submittals and oversight of construction activities

The Washington State Ferries Structures Team is seeking a motivated engineer looking to join a team of professionals supporting the public sector. For this position, WSF may fill this position either at the entry level (recent college graduate) or with an experienced engineer with several years of experience.
The position includes opportunities to work in/with:
All the major construction materials
Codes per ICC & AASHTO, & load analysis beyond standard IBC requirements like moving loads and dynamic loading Washington State Ferries’ infrastructure assets include buildings, trestles (aka piers/wharfs), and moving bridges. The Terminal Engineering team is a true multi-discipline work environment that includes frequent coordination with Mechanical, Electrical, & construction Engineers, in addition to the other civil disciplines

The candidate should have exposure to project management related to these skills and be comfortable overseeing junior engineers and CAD and providing QA/QC to others.
This position will support offices throughout the United States on projects throughout North America and will require occasional travel for meetings and site visits.
