A native of Stavanger, Norway, Johan Oye resided in University Place for 32 years.

He worked as a self-employed consulting structural engineer throughout his career.

In addition to his SEAW service, Johan hosted numerous international exchange students as a member of the Tacoma Narrows Rotary Club.
