Robert D. Anderson earned the Master's degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Colorado in 1974. Licensed as a Professional Engineer in Washington State in 1979 and as Structural in 1980, he also holds Civil Engineer licenses in Alaska and Colorado.

Bob moved to Seattle and joined Andersen Bjornstad Kane Jacobs, Inc. in 1974. He worked on projects throughout the Pacific Northwest such as the Prudhoe Bay Operations Center for the Atlantic Richfield Co., the ARCO Tower in Anchorage (then the tallest building in Anchorage), three Aircraft Maintenance Hangars at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island and Fort Lewis, the new and remodeled headquarters for the General Telephone Company in Everett, and campus expansion for Microsoft in Redmond. In association with Skilling Ward Magnusson Barkshire, Inc., Bob Anderson served as project manager on such major projects as the Boeing Commercial Aircraft Group Headquarters 2520 Building in Renton, Microsoft Pinehurst, Redmond; South Central Foundation Primary Care Clinic H, Anchorage; Swedish Medical Center Southeast Tower Addition, Seattle; the University of Washington Electrical Engineering/Computer Science Building Phase 2, Seattle; and Harborview Medical Center, Seattle. He became an SEAW member in 1983, serving as Northwest Conference CoChair 1984-86, Refresher Course Instructor 1985-94, as a Director on the Seattle Chapter Board 1992-94, and as 50th Anniversary Committee CoChair 2000.
