Presentation:
This presentation presents a breakdown of the various volumetric modular systems and when to use them. Volumetric modular construction integrates multiple building systems (architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, etc.) into an off-site fabrication process to minimize construction time, improve quality, and maintain a skilled labor force. This presentation will examine advantages and disadvantages for various systems currently in use to recommend a preferred application; as well as educate on the limitations of each system to avoid encountering pitfalls when considering a modular construction technique.
Presenter: Presenter: Aaron Miller, PE
Aaron Miller is a Senior Project Manager with DCI Engineers and has more than a decade of experience designing and managing multistory wood modular projects, including a brief period as an Authority Having Jurisdiction overseeing portable modular offices at a DOE site. His experience with multistory wood modular design has provided cost effective and innovative structural solutions for a growing industry since 2008. Additionally, Aaron has provided quality engineering design for a variety of materials in residential, mixed-use, light industrial, and commercial projects during this time. Aaron believes modular construction is a necessary component to address the housing issues facing many cities and jurisdictions today.
